Today’s headlines make my heart sink. It seems as if global events have taxed my spirit this year more than any other.
But every day I have a choice. I can look at the world through eyes of fear. Or faith.
In October 2016, I’m going to embrace the words St. Paul wrote to the church in Philippi while sitting in a prison cell in Rome:
“[W]hatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” (Philippians 4:8, emphasis mine)
I’m going to use my blog – my tiny little corner of the world – to stop focusing on this time as one of adversity and instead as an opportunity to witness that which is honorable and pure.
May my reflections here be a testament of Truth. May they spread Light in the darkness, and offer Love and Grace – not lifeless alternatives.
I pray that come November, we are all a little happier, a little saner, and a little closer to the One who gave us these awe-inspiring days.
