So if you’ve opened this post, domestic tranquility (at least as far as backpacks, dog toys, and toilets go) might be more myth than reality. Like me, you may struggle with how to keep it all “under control.”
As long as you are willing to let go of the idea that you CAN really have it all “under control,” I may have a plan for you.
Her name is FlyLady. And she might just be your next bit of Good News. Just go back and click her name (like Dorothy’s Red Slippers!) and you’re there.
I’m not going to elaborate too much here. You’ll start with your kitchen sink, and then she has an entire site for you to check out. But let’s just say that I have been “flying” (more or less) for a couple years now, and her systems work better than anything I had previously tried. She is less concerned with making a house perfect than blessing the family within it, and that’s a premise worth believing in and working toward.
I am not perfect. I will never have a photo-ready home and I have more or less accepted that that’s OK. On the days I start to beat myself up, I fall back on my mom’s words to me: “No one is going to knock on your door and give you the Good Housekeeping Award.”
And friends, that’s truth.
